Hot-Dip Galvanizing Ensures Structural Durability in Tropical Climates
On July 6, 2026, the Tanzania livestock shelter export project that Derun Heavy Steel undertook was officially delivered. The project comprises three livestock shelters located in the East African tropical savanna climate zone, where year-round high temperatures, heavy rainfall, high humidity, and intense sunlight place extremely stringent demands on the anti-corrosion performance of steel structures. Derun Heavy Steel successfully resolved the structural durability challenges under tropical high-humidity conditions through the organic combination of hot-dip galvanizing anti-corrosion technology and a light steel structure system.
The hot-dip galvanizing process immerses steel in molten zinc, and a dense zinc-iron alloy layer together with a pure zinc layer is formed on the surface. This coating provides excellent electrochemical protection, and it constitutes a robust physical barrier that effectively resists corrosion under tropical climatic conditions. When compared with conventional coating anti-corrosion, the hot-dip galvanized layer forms a metallurgical bond with the steel substrate. The adhesion is extremely strong and the coating resists peeling, so maintenance cycles are longer. This makes it particularly suitable for overseas projects where later maintenance is difficult.
